Initiator
Someone with new ideas and the energy to get things moving.

Manager
Feels both connected to the change and responsible for the structure. Managers have to think of the logistics and technicalities, and ensure that everyone does their part.
Supplier
Provides input for the initiative. Suppliers are connected to both the change and the structure, and they contribute on demand.

Activist
Activists want and pursue change, but don’t care much about the structure. They don’t mind if the desired change destroys it. They may perceive the structure as a mere blockage.

Gatekeeper
Gatekeepers are attached to the structure and loyal to it. They would rather maintain the structure, than facilitate change.

Survivor
Preoccupied with personal circumstances, rather than those of the group. Survivors do what is needed to get by, and are unwilling to take risks.

Free Actor
Someone who with the position and skills to do whatever is necessary for a network to be healthy. Free actors may act with or without a mandate. However, they are only effective if they have earned the respect and appreciation of others.
